Welcome back to Qemassen!

Apologies for the long wait since the last newsletter. It’s been a hectic spring.

We’re well into the story of The Wings of Ashtaroth now, so this letter’s recap will highlight just a few of the events to-date.

Artist’s rendition of Carthage’s famed military harbour.

“An artificial cove housing a shipyard dominated at the end of the docks, blocking the view of the shorter buildings behind it. ‘Men couldn't have built all this,’ Vivaen said.”

Most recently, Prince Ashtaroth’s bride finally arrived in Qemassen, but though Ashtaroth has taken a renewed interest in his marital duties, Vivaen and Aurelius are less than thrilled with the betrothal. Meanwhile, Dashel’s dealings in the lower city have driven a wedge between he and his family, and Uta’s engagement to Samelqo offers the temptation to forsake her role in the slave rebellion for the reward of the home and household she’s long been denied.

This week, Qwella's schooling in the shadowed halls of Qalita’s temple begins in earnest, though the secrets she learns aren’t taught at Daana’s knees, but at a fellow acolyte’s. In the week’s to come, Dashel and Aurelius make a horrifying discovery as Qemassen’s slave rebellion heats up, Iridescia investigates the secrets of the ghosts in the Haven, Uta’s loyalties are tested as she comes to suspect there’s more to Zioban than it seems, and Ydelka reveals to Kirin the less than savory truth behind Marianus’s generosity.
