SPFBO Woes, Black Friday, and Interviews Galore!
Welcome back to my newsletter!
I’ve been avoiding this one for about a month, so there’s unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) a lot to relate. I’ll try doing a quick-shot news post to fit it all in succinctly so no one’s eyes glaze over.
News!
First off—The Wings of Ashtaroth was cut from SPFBO in the first round (you can read The Critiquing Chemist’s post here. I’m so grateful to have been part of the contest and to have made so many new friends. Thank you to the judges (all of them, but especially my own for taking the time to consider my book), and to Mark Lawrence for hosting. The Critiquing Chemist/Lynn’s Books judging team had a phenomenal stable of books, and I recommend checking out their finalist/semi-finalist announcements here and here. Both blogs have some insightful reviews of the semi-finalists outside these round-ups and I recommend checking them out!
Second: I’m a book reviewer! I was very lucky to be invited to join the review team at Before We Go Blog. I’ve got two reviews up so far and should have two more up in the coming weeks. You can read my review for Jasper Hyde’s Sleepy Hollow retelling, Splinter, here, and my review for Megan E. Freeman’s wonderful middle grade survival novel, Alone, here.

I’ve also recently set up a new page on my website where I’ve collected interviews, special guest posts, and reviews of my books. You can browse that here!
Speaking of reviews, I’ve been very fortunate to have received some good ones for The Erstwhile Tyler Kyle—my queer horror comedy that released in October! Read Paul’s review for Queen’s Book Asylum here!
or check out the video below for a compilation of quotations from reviewers!
BIG thank you to everyone who’s checked out the book so far! And if you haven’t but would like to, you can find it from these retailers!
I’m participating in a HUGE Black Friday sale run by the wonderful James Dulin and Thiago Abdalla at the moment. You can grab both my books or .99 (and there are a TON of other great writers participating).
Lastly, I’ve finally started posting the interim chapters of The Sands of Hazzan (these take place between The Wings of Ashtaroth and The Crown of Asmodeus). There are three such chapters before I start posting Crown. You can read the first one on my website, Wattpad, or Ao3 and if you’re new to the series you can happily read this one on its own (though you may find the glossary of terms on my website helpful).
That’s all I can think of right now, but is definitely enough!
